Dave Stokes M.A.

Founder and Executive Director, Evolution Youth Services

Dave brings 20 years of community mental health experience to the program along with a passion for sharing the transformative power of Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.   Dave is a certified trainer for Crisis Intervention for Youth through the National Center for Mental Health and Juvenile Justice as well as a certified trainer for Youth Mental Health First Aid.  Additionally, he holds degrees in Religious Studies, Psychology, and Anthropology.

John Wiseman

Director of Youth Services

John is currently a psychology undergraduate student at the University of Colorado Denver and has worked as an Exercise Behavior Neuroscience research assistant. His current research focuses on the identification of the neurobiology necessary for the stress protective benefits of exercise. Paired with his academic knowledge base and a strong passion for Brazilian Jiu jitsu John offers a diverse teaching perspective dedicated towards developing emotional control, higher self-confidence and prosocial behavioral skills aimed at improving behavioral outcomes for at-risk youth.

Stephanie Linkus

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Instructor, Women's Self-Defense Instructor

Steph is a Colorado native having grown up in Sun Valley and has recently been promoted the the rank of Sergeant with the Denver Police Department. Stephanie has been trained to work with people from all walks of life. Stephanie has competed in several international and local jiu jitsu tournaments. She has had the opportunity to teach Jiu Jitsu to a wide range of people with different sill levels. Stephanie believes Jiu Jitsu is the best self-defense. Jiu Jitsu allows you to control a much larger and stronger opponent without hurting them while keeping yourself safe.

Linda L. Mann Esq., LPC, NBCC,

Director of Clinical Services. 

Linda provides clinical supervision to program staff and may be the only clinician nationally, that can provide on-site, on-the-mat therapy, to youth learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Linda has been working in the mental health field since 1991.  Linda is an attorney, a licensed professional counselor in the State of Colorado and a Nationally Board Certified Counselor.  Additionally, Linda is a blue belt in jiu jitsu.

Jimmy  Maldonado

Jiu Jitsu Instructor, Youth Outreach Liaison

Jimmy is a Colorado native and has been practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for the past 9 years. Jimmy started his Brazilian jiu jitsu career 9 years ago and is currently a brown belt.  Jimmy has been competing in local and national jiu jitsu tournaments since 2009, and had his first professional fight in 2016 for Fight to Win. In the future, Jimmy aims to improve on being a competitor and instructor, share his love of jiu jitsu with others, and empower individuals by promoting respect, self confidence, and community. When Jimmy is not on the mat, you can find him at White Lotus Tattoo where he works as a professional piercer. 

Robi Sanyal M.A.

Jiu Jitsu Instructor

Originally from Maryland, Robi  relocated to Denver last year to work in renewable energy. Robi brings more than 10 years of jiu jitsu experience to the program.  He has competed at both the local and international level.  He has taught Jiu Jitsu to people of all ages and is excited to share his passion with the youth of Denver.
